Hurricane Ian has been downgraded by the National Hurricane Center to a tropical storm. A hurricane warning has been issued for Savannah, GA and a hurricane watch for Wilmington, NC. Tropical Storm Ian is approximately 175 miles south of Savannah with an intensity around 70mph. The storm is moving north-northeast at 9mph with largest impacts to the Savannah and Wilmington areas expected throughout the day on Friday, September 30th.

The USCG has issued Marine Safety Information Bulletins for the Ports of Savannah and Wilmington and continue daily Heavy Weather Advisory Group conference calls to inform marine terminal operators of pending changes in Port Conditions.

As a precaution, Colonial Terminals continues hurricane preparations in Savannah and Wilmington. Please see below for current impacts to vessel, rail, and truck operations. You will continue to be informed of any changes to operations through these advisories that will be issued daily until the threat of Tropical Storm Ian passes.

Savannah Terminal Operations

Terminal Operations

Precautionary terminal preparations continue. Colonial Terminals and Georgia Kaolin Terminals will be closed on Friday, September 30th. Normal operations are expected to resume on Saturday, October 1st for CTI and on Monday, October 3rd for GKT. We will maintain limited operations staffing onsite throughout the storm to respond to any issues that may arise.

Vessel Operations

Vessel operations are suspended at all locations.

The Port of Savannah is currently under Port Condition Zulu as defined by the USCG and has been closed to inbound and outbound traffic.

Rail Operations

NS and CSX have suspended rail operations until further notice.

Bottom-Loading Fuel Shipments

No current impact.

Truck Operations

Truck operations are suspended until further notice. CTI will notify Customers when truck operations will resume.

Wilmington Terminal Operations

Terminal Operations

No current impact.

Vessel Operations

The Port of Wilmington anticipates setting Port Condition Modified Zulu as defined by the USCG at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 29th which will close the Port to inbound and outbound traffic.

Rail Operations

WTRY is operating with limited service, this will not have an impact on our Customers.

Truck Operations

No current impact.
